Brampton Fire helps flood community ice rink at Northwood Park

The community maintained ice rink at Northwood Park received a 4 inch top-up of water today to help create a better ice surface for local residents. Councillor Santos was joined by Mayor Brown, Fire Chief Bill Boyes and members of the Fire Department to help local volunteer Dennis Keenan. Dennis spends many hours each week with other local volunteers preparing and maintaining the rink for the neighbourhood. Dennis also requested better lighting for the rink and suggested the simple solution of tilting an existing light fixture towards the rink.

Helping to flood local rinks is a temporary measure this year to expand opportunities for outdoor recreation activities. A number of additional options are available, all in response to provincial public health measures that required the closing of recreation centres. The City of Brampton is providing a range of expanded outdoor recreation activities. Check out: https://www.brampton.ca/recreation
